If an emitter is generating Thinking Particles (TP), you can use the xpUnlinkTP modifier to unlink a Thinking Particle from its corresponding X-Particle.

At that point, the generated Thinking Particles are no longer controlled by the X-Particles system.

The Thinking Particle cannot later be re-linked back to the X-Particle.

xpUnlinkTP_v03.mp4

In this animation, the xpEmitter is set to emit Thinking Particles and particles are pulled towards the Sphere by the xpFollowSurface modifier. When the xpUnlinkTP’s Linear field passes over them, they are no longer affected by this modifier.

Mode

Set at Independent by default.

You can change this to Action-Controlled.

Independent Mode

In this mode, particles will be affected if they come into the field of effect of the modifier.

Action-Controlled Mode

When in the Action-Controlled Mode setting, the modifier will only act on a particle when told to do so by an action.
