The tfErosion filter in Morphological mode can create two effects.

In Dilation mode it produces stylized, knobby, canyon effects on your terrain, whilst in Erosion mode it chips away at it.

Properties

Untitled

tfErosion Morphological, Properties tab menu settings.

Size

This sets the size of the structures created in the morphological process.

Larger values will yield a more pronounced effect, and take longer to compute.

Mode

The options are Dilate or Erode.

Dilate will typically present a flatter, plateau at the highest parts, while Erode does just that, giving a more natural look, with less ‘sharp’ angles on edges.

Gaussian

Enable this to use a Gaussian kernel, adding a smoothing effect.

Shape

If Gaussian is disabled, select one of several available shapes for the structuring element matrix, used in the morphological process here.

The options are: Box, Circle, Along U, Along V and Cross; each yields a distinctive look.
